About Healthy Country AI
The Healthy Country AI and digital program aims to:
- Enhance the confidence of Indigenous land and sea managers to use data, AI and digital tools to care for Country.
- Empower Indigenous land and sea managers to deliver on-ground impact through use of data and technology.
- Support networking opportunities for Indigenous land and sea managers to share and learn from stories about county using data.
Indigenous rangers in NT and Northern Queensland have been supported by Elders, peers and scientists to complete modules that earn digital badges, which are co-verified by senior cultural and technical authorities and awarded through Charles Darwin University.
Some ranger groups have also been provided with digital technology equipment to apply this learning to support community-based monitoring, with the support of scientists and peer-to-peer learning exchanges. Many program participants have shared how they have applied acquired digital skills to support environmental management activities at annual forums where other Indigenous rangers are invited to join the network.
